Each day, I am impressed by the wonderful things people do when it comes to animal rescue. One of those amazing things is individuals who choose to foster animals with challenging behaviors or special needs.

As a pet mom to a behaviorally challenged cat, I know that it is not an easy task. Unfortunately, sometimes people couldn't see who he truly was when he wasn't overwhelmed by his fears and phobias. The same can be said for animals that are having a difficult time adjusting to shelter life or may have experienced difficult situations in their past.

But these individuals step up and take in cats, dogs, and even birds that may be difficult to adopt out. They give these animals a chance to decompress in an environment that doesn't feel so unnatural or overwhelming.

One young couple chose to foster cats with behavioral problems or medical issues that could not be adequately treated in a shelter. Their decision has helped save many cats from being euthanized simply because the shelter was unable to provide the level of care they needed.

And then there is an elderly woman who opens her home to cats and dogs as a foster hospice home. She gives these loving animals the opportunity to live out their lives with dignity, respect, comfort, and love.

These are the stories that continue to inspire Totally Feline™—the amazing people behind these rescues. They could have chosen to do something else with their lives, but instead, they make room in their lives to care for animals that are often forgotten or overlooked.

As long as there are caring individuals in this world, there will always be an inspiring story to tell.
